Subscription Update Obituary

Lawrence Neal Charles “Lefty” was entrusted by God to Lawrence Charles Sr. and Charlotte Thierry Charles. He was born September 17, 1967 in Houston, Texas.

At a young age his life was dedicated to the Lord opening the door to serve the Lord at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church. He made his First Communion and Confirmation. Also, he served as an altar boy. While still active he became the Godfather to Tasha Jackson and later to Catrina Shorts.  Later, in life Lawrence decided to under the influence of the Lord to convert from Catholic to Baptist.  Upon his choice the Lord led him to White Rock Missionary Baptist Church.  Through the teachings of Dr. M. A. Thomas, Lawrence was able to serve as an usher.

Working at Patio One, Coca-Cola, the City of Houston, Houston Astrodome and Auto Zone. Simultaneously, Lawrence was a hard worker until his health would not allow him. Lawrence was an avid sports fan; it didn’t matter professional, collegiate or high school. He knew the players’ and teams’ strengths and weaknesses. Houston’s teams were his favorites including the Oilers.

Neal was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence Sr. and Charlotte and his brother, Royce Lee.

Neal is survived by his two daughters, Lawren Charles and Kayla Mae Charles; two sisters, Karen Bracken (Luis)of California and Erica (Baldy Locks) Charles of Houston; two brothers, Gary Rhone Charles Sr. (Monica) and Eric “Bear” Charles; The Charles Army of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews who loved him dearly; five aunts, Joyce Mae Thomas, Maudry Anderson, Irone Hampton, Deborah Christiansen of Houston, Texas and Gladys Reliford of California; one uncle, Leonce Thierry of Houston, Texas, one great uncle; Jessie Lee Wright of California; god parents, Janice Barley and Charles Prince and a host of cousins and friends who shared with him during his stay on this side of heaven.

On Saturday, February 15, 2020, there will be a visitation at – 9 A.M. and the Celebration of Life services at 11 A.M. at White Rock Missionary Baptist Church at 8008 Darien Street in Houston TX. He will take his earthly rest at Paradise North Cemetery.
